Mahogany breakfront bookcase

A real showpiece, this magnificent breakfront bookcase positively abounds with fine detailing. Like the greatest of Golden Age London craftsmanship, all the skills and imagination of George Bensley’s workshop is on display.

While designed to house your library, it is clearly built to impress your guests. From its finely pierced and fretted gallery, to its ebonised detailing, every element is in tune with its neighbour.

Two short glazed doors flank the central projecting door, each with complex patterned glazing bars and carved detailing. A broken pediment surmounts the central glazed section, and galleries with pierced fretwork the flanks. The base is constructed of two cupboards either side of four equal drawers with decorative brass handles. Mahogany veneers decorate the lower doors and drawer fronts and ebonised inlay detailing continues from top to bottom.
