All smooth curves and rococo detailing, this dazzling dressing table is a testament to the craftsmanship of the George Bensley workshop.

In a form more usually rendered in mahogany, this exquisite lowboy comes alive in the dynamic colours of burr walnut. Its quarter book matched veneered top is surrounded by walnut herringbone inlay, as are the drawer fronts. It stands on simple square moulded legs with chamfered edge.

A design that is quite out of time. Drawing influence from golden age forms, with and turned and carved barley twist posts, the head and foot boards and column edges are inlaid with individually hand cut marquetry in contrasting wood. The whole effect is reminiscent of Moorish or middle eastern styles.

Here again the form of the piece is period with knop handles and bun feet typical of early walnut era furniture, but the marquetry is pure George Bensley. The foliate forms in contrasting veneers add a brilliant highlight to the piece and are in tune with the four poster.

This sumptuously upholstered bedroom chair is typical of those found at the English country house of that name, famous for its central rotunda and curving wings. The deeply buttoned back and sides and stuffed over seat is available covered in fabric of your choosing.

What designers have in mind for their work is not always reflected in the use to which owners put them. In this unique piece, the brushing slide is reinterpreted as a folding top writing table. Held on pull out bearers it reveals yet more gorgeous walnut veneer, and like the four graduated drawers beneath, is cross banded and strung with herringbone inlay.

The serpentine front is a highly desirable feature, giving an impression slightly reminiscent of French styles of the period but executed with more restraint. Here it contains two short and three long graduated drawers, each with burr walnut veneer and herringbone stringing. Specially cast brass handles complete the image of classical cabinet making.
